APT's unified approach to working with Psychosis
'CBT for Psychosis - Assessment, Formulation, and Helping Strategies' is a 3-day course from the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT), a leading provider of accredited courses for professionals working in mental health and related areas.
It is APT-accredited and also gives you access to APT’s relevant downloadable resources for use post-course. The course is available for teams/organizations and can be attended face-to-face or online. (2-day version also available.)
Please note: you can attend one, some, or all of 'APT's unified approach to working with Psychosis' courses, in whichever order is best for you.
The course is intended for people who have completed Course 1 or are certain they are familiar with everything contained in Course 1. The course was developed to help you deliver focused intervention strategies of the sort that are best applied in 1:1 settings; strategies geared to reduce distress, improve the quality of life, and thence reduce symptomatology.
The course is intended for people who have completed Course 1 and who want to become practising CBT therapists with people with schizophrenia. It is therefore suitable only for professionals who have or intend to have 1:1 professional contact with people diagnosed as psychotic.
The course will teach you how to plan and deliver an appropriate and individually tailored programme of therapy, from the assessment and goal setting to the practice of CBT techniques that have been developed to treat delusions and hallucinations by changing or modifying them.
You will capitalize on skills acquired in Course One by developing a facility with techniques specifically designed to influence individual delusions and hallucinations. You will see prepared videos that demonstrate the techniques discussed, and have the opportunity to copy them. You will have the chance to plan treatment programmes for prepared examples and for your own patients.
You will be registered as having attended the course, thereby gaining APT's Level 1 accreditation, and receive a certificate to this effect. The accreditation gives you access to online resources associated with the course and access to the online exam if you wish to uprate your APT accreditation to Level 2.
Your registration lasts indefinitely, and your accreditation lasts for 3 years and is renewable by sitting an online refresher which also upgrades your accreditation to APT Level 2 if you are successful in the associated online exam.
Your accreditation is given value by the fact of over 150,000 people having attended APT training. See APT accreditation for full details.
